Istanbul Teknik Airports' Choice

Istanbul Teknik Airports' Choice

Turkey is increasing its investments in the transportation sector by making moves that will carry its development forward. The number of airports, which have a very important place among these investments, has increased day by day, and Rize and Bayburt airports have been added to the list.

Reinforcements are used in several ways at airports. ForTex Bi-Directional geogrids are used for ground reinforcement under aprons, hangars, runway structures, to balance different settlements in concrete structures that operate differently from the ground, such as culvert structures under the runway and highway tunnels, and to prevent deformation that may occur to the superstructure (Elazığ, Ercan Airports). They increase the strength of the superstructure layer against the high live loads that the tires of the aircraft give to the section during movement and landing, and ensure that the loads are distributed regularly to the filling layers. They are used effectively to support the homogeneous operation of the runway infrastructure, especially in projects with high filling layers such as Istanbul New Airport and Rize Airport.

In airport applications, ForTex unidirectional geogrids can be used to build GeoArme reinforced infill wall structures and retaining structures required by large structures such as hangars in an aesthetic way.

In airport renovations, in works to increase the comfort of old concrete pavements by covering them with asphalt, AsfaltTex asphalt reinforcement geogrids are used to delay the reflection of concrete cracks and expansion cracks formed in joints to the surface.

ForTex geocomposite grids can also be used to meet the loads coming to the drainage layers installed in airports.
