Istanbul Teknik's R&D graph is rising

İstanbul Teknik rose 50 places compared to the previous year with an investment volume of approximately 5 million TL.

İstanbul Teknik, Turkey's largest geogrid and asphalt chemicals manufacturer, has entered the Turkish leaders by showing a strong performance in the R&D wing in 2020 despite the pandemic conditions that shook the whole world. According to the "Companies with the Highest R&D Spending in Turkey" research prepared by Turkishtime Magazine, the company, which entered the top 500 among 1,227 R&D Centers in our country in 2020 and ranked 354th, rose 50 places compared to the previous year with an investment volume of approximately 5 million TL.

İstanbul Teknik, which continues its activities in the fields of geosynthetics, asphalt chemicals and insulation material production, sales and solution engineering as Turkey's largest geogrid manufacturer, strengthens its place among the companies that invest the most in this field with its R&D center registered with the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey. Despite the pandemic conditions, the company, which made approximately 5 million TL in R&D investments in 2020; ranked 354th among 1,227 R&D Centers according to the results of Turkishtime Magazine's "Companies with the Highest R&D Spending in Turkey" survey, rising 50 places compared to the previous year.

The first R&D center in the field of geosynthetics, asphalt and marble

Istanbul Teknik, which works in geosynthetics, asphalt and marble with the motto "To improve life", has the first and only R&D center in Turkey working in this field. The center, which was registered by the General Directorate of R&D Incentives of the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey in January 2019; carries the company and the sector forward in light of global developments in terms of new technology, new products, new processes and know-how, and operates in a structure that carries out all its work within a certain systematic framework. The center includes Project Coordination, Research, Testing and Analysis, Development, Intellectual and Industrial Property Rights and Support units.

Istanbul Technical R&D Center, which continues its work uninterruptedly with the mission of reducing our country's external dependency and adding strength to our economy, providing high value-added, innovative products to the sector and our country, has applied for 2 patents and received 3 trademark registrations since its establishment. It has published a total of 11 publications, 7 of which are national and 4 of which are international, and even one of the international publications attracted considerable attention as a SCIE publication. The center, which currently carries out its work with many researchers who are experts in their fields, also has international academic and industrial collaborations. The General Directorate of Highways, TÜBİTAK, Istanbul Chamber of Industry, KIWA, as well as Yıldız Technical, METU, Marmara, Istanbul Technical, Sabancı, Istanbul, Gebze Technical, Eskişehir Technical and Çukurova Universities are among Istanbul Technical's stakeholders.

Stating that they have an important mission and vision such as contributing to the sector by developing innovative products with a professional team and reducing our country’s external dependency, Istanbul Technical Board Chairman Macit Tanyol made the following statements;

“We are aware that getting ahead in competition and creating a global impact is only possible with strong R&D studies. In this context, despite the uncertainty of the global economy, we have decided to increase our performance on the R&D side in 2020. All of our products developed by our R&D Center are produced with our own materials and formulations without compromising our domestic production approach and are offered to the market. The products we develop include anti-skinning additives, asphalt emulsions, marble protection gels, geosynthetic coatings, modified asphalt bitumen emulsions, and advanced material technologies. We have achieved significant success over the years with the studies carried out by our center. Asphalt and Geosynthetic departments manufacturer, the first domestic asphalt chemicals manufacturer in Turkey in the transportation sector, the largest Geoarme wall implementer in Turkey, the first and only domestic polyester Geogrid manufacturer are just a few of them. Our efforts to improve life with what we have brought to our company, the sector and our country will continue to grow with the same energy in the coming years.”
