Polymer strips are geosynthetic reinforcement elements manufactured by coating polyester yarns with PE (polyethylene), specifically developed for reinforced soil (mechanically stabilized earth – MSE) applications.
High-tensile ForTex Geostrips work through soil–reinforcement friction and counteract horizontal loads within the fill, thereby stabilizing the embankment. This enables GeoArme Retaining Structure Systems to provide fast, economical, and practical construction solutions.
Due to the high tensile strength and long-term durability of polyester yarns, these reinforcement strips are widely used in reinforced soil applications. Loads are transferred to the reinforced concrete facing panels through a specially designed connection system. The strips are continuously installed in a Z-pattern within the soil mass, forming an integrated reinforced soil wall structure in interaction with the compacted fill material.
Fields of Application
Widening of divided roads and highways
Alternative to conventional bridge abutment walls
Perimeter walls for parks and landscaping projects
Median expansion in divided highways
Approach retaining walls at intersections and junctions
Projects with high land acquisition and expropriation costs
Land optimization in urban and infrastructure projects
Retaining wall applications with bridging elements
Advantages
Provides high tensile strength, enhancing overall structural stability through interaction with the fill material
Lightweight structure ensures easy transportation and on-site installation, offering significant logistical advantages compared to alternative systems
Establishes effective soil–reinforcement interaction through friction, improving performance especially in weak or sloped ground conditions
More economical, practical, and advantageous compared to conventional retaining wall systems
