Tunnels are underground structures used in railway system projects such as highways, railways and metros and are generally constructed in horseshoe or box section types. These structures can be classified as bored and cut-and-cover tunnels. The tunnel section consists of soil, temporary shoring (bolts and sprayed concrete), insulation and inner lining concrete layers.
Geotechnical non-woven geotextiles, GeoSeal PVC or GeoSeal VLDPE membranes are used for insulation purposes. GeoSeal membranes are applied with a signal layer and allow for easy detection of tears that may occur in dark and dusty environments. In addition, TekDrain drainage boards are used in some projects to increase water flow.
